Runtime Management

Posit Connect executes content using the language and framework runtimes it manages on the server. This section covers how to configure each supported runtime, including where Connect locates installations and how it manages packages.

Connect supports the following runtimes:

• R
• Python
• Quarto
• Node.js
• TensorFlow

Off-host execution

When using off-host execution, runtime versions are defined by the set of Execution Environments available for executing content, rather than by installations on the Connect server. For an overview of this feature, see the Execution Environments appendix. Connect selects an appropriate image from the set of configured images based on the runtime version requested by the content. The server-side installation and configuration described in each runtime section applies to local execution.
