Getting Started with RStudio Pro

Posit Workbench supports launching RStudio Pro sessions from the Posit Workbench home page. RStudio Pro is a popular IDE built by Posit.

This section of the Workbench User Guide contains information specific to using RStudio Pro within Posit Workbench. For complete details on using the RStudio IDE, please refer to the RStudio Open-Source User Guide.

Start an RStudio Pro session

To start a new session:

From the Posit Workbench home page, click + New Session.
Click the RStudio Pro button.
Click the Start Session button.

Once the session is ready, Posit Workbench automatically opens RStudio Pro in your current browser window.

Switch RStudio Pro sessions

From inside an RStudio Pro session, switch to another running RStudio Pro session by using the Sessions drop-down menu located at the top-right section of the browser window. From the drop-down menu, select a different session to be opened in the current browser tab.

Return to the Posit Workbench home page

To return to the Posit Workbench home page, click the Home Symbol button located at the top-right section of the browser window. This opens the Posit Workbench home page in the current browser tab.
