RStudio Desktop Pro#

RStudio Desktop Professional Edition adds the following enhancements to the open-source version of RStudio Desktop:

A commercial license for organizations not able to use AGPL software
Access to priority Posit support
Tools for license activation and management
Access to the Posit Professional Drivers

Shiny Server Pro#

Discontinuation of Sales of Shiny Server Pro to new and existing customers

Reflecting the maturity of Posit Connect as a product, and in order to focus our engineering efforts on providing the best experience for our customers in deploying all forms of R and Python data products, we have discontinued sales of Shiny Server Pro to new customers and initiated the End of Life (EoL) cycle.

Key takeaways:

As of Jan 1, 2021, Posit ended the sale of Shiny Server Pro to new customers.
Shiny Server Pro is only available for renewal and new licenses are no longer available for purchase.
Starting April 2024, existing customers will have one more opportunity for a final one-year renewal at 20% price increase.
At the conclusion of that license end date, Posit will end support of this product. All support will be terminated on March 31, 2026.

Shiny Server Open Source is not affected and will continue to be available.

Recommended:

- Although we will continue to support Shiny Server Pro for existing customers until March 31, 2026, we strongly recommend that you consider Connect:
  - Migrating to Connect from Shiny Server Pro
  - Migrating your applications from Shiny Server Pro to Connect

Shiny Server Pro lacks the complete feature set that Connect provides, and notably does not have support for convenient push-button publishing, Plumber APIs, or Jupyter Notebooks.
