Posit Professional Drivers help you:
- Explore your databases using Posit Workbench
- Develop and deploy applications and reports that depend on databases to Posit Connect
- Use R with databases in the cloud or your production environment
Posit offers Professional Drivers for many common data sources at no additional cost to current paying customers. Professional Drivers include data access and analytics software including ODBC, JDBC, ADO, NET, ODBO, and XMLA developed by Insightsoftware, International, Inc. (formerly known as Simba Technologies, Inc.). Insightsoftware International, Inc. licenses these drivers to Posit.
You can only use Professional Drivers with other Posit professional software. The drivers are not available on a standalone basis or with other software.
Use Professional Drivers with the following products:
- Posit Team bundle
- Posit Workbench
- Posit Connect
- RStudio Desktop Pro
Posit does not sell or offer Professional Drivers for use with free and open-source server or desktop software. Posit licenses do not permit the use of the drivers with these products.
Posit tests Professional Drivers against the R ODBC connection toolchain, specifically the DBI and odbc R packages. Posit also tests Professional Drivers against the pyodbc package in Python.
