Troubleshooting operation not permitted erros when using AWS FSx Lustre

Abstract

Amending root_squash settings in AWS.

Description

AWS FSx Lustre has root_squash enabled by default. When root_squash is enabled, the root user is prevented from changing file ownership, resulting in the “Operation not permitted” error when trying to chown the license file.

Solution

Disable root_squash as described in the AWS FSx for Lustre documentation.
