Multiple Sessions

Multiple Positron Pro windows with distinct processes and projects can be opened within the same Positron Pro session in separate browser windows. Closing a Positron Pro session window causes the processes associated with that window to exit, while other processes associated with the same session remain running.

After a user closes all windows associated with a session, restarting the session from the Posit Workbench homepage opens the last project that the user opened in this session. The order in which the windows are closed does not impact this. Reopening the Positron Pro Workspace or folder the user was previously working in returns the window to the state that it was left in.

Known issues

There are some open issues around persisting the state of a session when a user refreshes the browser window or reopens an existing session. For more information, please refer to this issue in the Positron GitHub Repo.
